Fort Wayne Plastics, Inc. was proud to sponsor and participate in  the third annual Free to Breathe® Fort Wayne Lung Cancer 5K Run/Walk & 1-Mile Memory Walk held in Fort Wayne, IN, on Saturday,  September 13, 2014.

Many Fort Wayne Plastics’ employees took part in the activity and enjoyed the day. Changing its name – but not its focus – the National Lung Cancer Partnership is now Free to Breathe, a name that conveys the organization’s passion, dedication and vision to double lung cancer survival by 2022, empower and support advocates, and help every person affected by the disease. To double lung cancer survival by 2022, Free to Breathe focuses on accelerating research, helping patients understand treatment options and ensuring patients benefit from innovative therapies that save lives. Fort Wayne Plastics is proud to announce an employee anniversary.  Bob Grimes- Purchasing Manager has been with Fort Wayne Plastics for 23 years. Bob has long been a major component to the success of Fort Wayne Plastics and has held key positions within the organization.  Bob began in June, 1991, as a Quality Auditor and has been moving forward ever since.

Structural Foam Molder- FWP adds Manager

Bobby Bizwell has joined the FWP team as Plant Manager. Bobby comes to FWP after previous managerial and plant supervisory roles at Tokheim Corporation and Lincoln Manufacturing in Fort Wayne. Bobby has an A.S. degree in Industrial Technology from Ivy Tech Community College.

A Rieves, TN native, Bobby enjoys spending his free time with his daughter, reading the Bible, fishing and making trips home to Tennessee.

FWP – Structural Foam Molder – ISO 9001-2008

FWP is pleased to announce the successful completion of FWP’s ISO 9001-2008 surveillance audit. The surveillance audit, conducted by Perry Johnson Registrars Inc., was performed in May 2013, without findings or non-compliant discoveries.

FWP has been an ISO registered company since 2011 and is annually audited by Perry Johnson Registrars.  In 2014, FWP’s annual review will consist of a comprehensive re-certification audit.

FWP’s ongoing commitment and disciplined approach to ISO along with a comprehensive Quality Management System have shown continuous marked improvements in all areas since inception.

Fort Wayne Plastics is a leading custom structural foam molder located strategically in the heart of the Midwest.
The process of low pressure, multi nozzle structural foam molding is the manufacturing molding process of choice for application requirements in which high strength to part weight is critical.
Structural foam molding allows for the injection molding of thick wall parts with the addition of a foaming agent. In order to produce a thicker wall part, a small amount of nitrogen or chemical blowing agent is injected into the plastic material. Under pressure within the injection screw and barrel, the foaming agent does not expand. When the melted plastic enters the mold cavity and core, the foaming process occurs. As the foamed plastic fills the mold, the wall of the part hardens against aluminum mold wall. A thin layer forms a skin structure that is supported by the foamed inner core.

The product choices are virtually endless and span a myriad of industries. Structural foam molding is widely utilized in the material handling industry; plastic pallets, knockdown containers, trays, totes, carts, etc. From a variety of drainage and water filtration applications to lawn and garden, to medical industry uses structural foam molding provides product designers with lots of choices and design flexibility.
